The RAFTRC Clubhouse

All shooting is conducted safely in accordance with the National Rifle Association regulations, we offer your guests expert coaching from members of the Great Britain Rifle Team, National Squad or a major Bisley Club.

Dates

Fridays between April and October are preferred but due to the popularity that these days at Bisley now enjoy, an early booking is essential.  We now provisionally book dates in November for the following year to ensure reservation of the necessary facilities for us with the organizations at Bisley.  At least one day is usually arranged which will be particularly suitable for small groups from different Companies.  An early indication of interest is, however, strongly advised.

Party sizes

On each day there will be between 24 and 36 guests, however, bookings can be taken for individuals and smaller groups who will then be included together on a suitable day.  For the sporting clay, groups of 5 or 6 will be formed, but for pistol and rifle there will be no more than 3 guests per coach this allows hosts and guests a little time to chat between activity.   Basic or more advanced instruction will be given in each discipline by the coach depending on individual ability and progress.

Each guest will have the opportunity for some competitive shooting with each firearm.

Elegant specially engraved glassware will be presented to all participants with those rated best at each discipline receiving a specially engraved glass.

Shooting

Pistol and Running Deer ranges are largely under cover, however for the other disciplines some wet weather clothing is advisable in case of rain. Guests should dress casually and comfortably, together with sturdy footwear.  All types of shooting are suitable for men and women and can be enjoyed by any age group although a younger age limit of 14 is usually applied.  Pistol shooting will be with reproduction percussion pistols (powder and ball and still allowed after recent legislation) and is conducted at distances of 10 to 20 yards;  target rifle will be with the 7.62mm rifle and is usually at 600 yards.   Sporting clay will be with over and under shotguns, although guests who have their own shotguns are encouraged to bring their own. Other disciplines, such as Running Deer, are possible and are conducted the 7.62 or 5.56mm rifle from a standing position at 150yds.  Match Rifle uses a 7.62mm rifle and a telescopic sight and is conducted at 1000 or 1100 yards.  The standard programme includes sporting clay for half a day and two other disciplines selected for the other half day, usually target rifle and pistol as both allow more shooting to be completed by each guest.  Any variations are possible but may require special quotation.
